Our Mission
The Challenge
Across Southern Africa, wildlife faces increasing pressure from habitat loss, poaching, and escalating human-wildlife conflict. Lion and leopard specifically fall victim, as their territories lie adjacent to the many communities surrounding reserves. At the same time, these communities, where unemployment figures are high, often lack access to education, skills development, and economic opportunity, creating a cycle that undermines long-term conservation efforts, endangering biodiversity and the livelihoods of communities dependant on natural resources hampering effective conservation efforts.
Khaya Varindzi will provide a temporary, wild, safe haven for big cats in compromise, while relocation sites are identified, preventing the need for euthanasia. Without integrated solutions, wildlife and communities remain vulnerable.
Our Response
Through a pioneering integrated conservation model, we combine wildlife protection, rescue and rehabilitation of iconic wild big cats, anti-poaching operations, education, and community development addressing root causes rather than symptoms.
Our approach recognises that lasting conservation is only possible when people are empowered to become part of the solution.
Our Difference
Khaya Varindzi is built on collaboration, not isolation. By bringing together experienced conservation organisations, K9 anti- poaching units, professional handlers, educators, students and community leaders, we create a unified front against poaching while promoting opportunity, dignity and shared responsibility. This is conservation designed for long-term impact
